He doesn’t have the armor like
The movie heroes do,
His strength comes from the inside,[i]
His grit and courage too.[ii]
For he leans on Omnipotence
To be what he should be,[iii]
Through trusting and obedience,
He’s like a mighty tree.[iv]
He serves the Lord, he knows the plan,
He’s ready for the fight,[v]
And with the Holy Spirit’s help,
He’ll not succumb to flight.[vi]
He knows life is a battlefield,
Where Satan seeks his prey [vii] –
The foolish[viii] and the immature,[ix]
Who think they’re here play.
So he will not be caught off guard,[x]
A holy life he lives,[xi]
For God and for his family,
His best, he always gives.[xii]
In God he is content,[xiii] he won’t
Complain about his life, [xiv]
But boldly leads his family –
His children and his wife –[xv]
To love the Lord, to serve Him well, [xvi]
To be what they should be,[xvii]
To firmly fix their eyes and hearts
Upon eternity.[xviii]
And ‘love,’ oh yes, he’s got it right,
He’s learned it from the Best,[xix]
Who tells us to put others first, [xx]
So everyone is blessed.
He is patient, kind and gentle,[xxi]
Always willing to forgive,[xxii]
Says he’s sorry when in error,[xxiii]
For confident, he lives,
And seeks to understand his wife,
The differences God made,
So, as they’ve encountered problems,
Quite quickly, he has prayed.
For he views her as a treasure,[xxiv]
An heir with him in life,[xxv]
Puts her needs above his own, thus,[xxvi]
Their home’s not filled with strife.
And faithful, he will always be,[xxvii]
He’ll never break her heart,
Or devastate their children,
Or tear their home apart.
From God, he gets this wisdom,[xxviii]
Knows when to turn and run, [xxix]
He’s not like the fools who strut
In front of Satan’s gun,[xxx]
Who brag about the girls they have[xxxi]
Like it’s a splendid feat,
When really that’s no different than
The poodle down the street.
And he disciplines his children, yes,[xxxii]
He loves and leads them well,[xxxiii]
And teaches them to follow God,[xxxiv]
So they won’t burn in Hell.[xxxv]
He gives his time, he gives his best
To bless the younger heart,
And from the plan God has for them, [xxxvi]
He prays they’ll never part.
And he is their protection,
The sentry on the wall,
Shielding them from influences[xxxvii]
That’ll hurt or make them fall.
And he works hard where he’s employed,
He does his job quite well,[xxxviii]
Yet, home and work priorities
Are balanced on the scale.
Yes, he protects and he provides,
All that his family needs,[xxxix]
And calling on the Father’s help,
Successfully he leads.[xl]
